Mass shootings, which are mainly committed by men, are a result of ‘our society failing to teach men to be men’ or ‘what it means to be a man’, some say.
But what does that even mean?
It’s just an idea, a theory, about what biology allegedly defines for us in this world.
And it’s a transient thing, too.
The ideas about what male or female roles are, about what biology symbolises and whether it really means anything, have changed many, many times over the centuries.
We currently just happen to be living in the particular ideology that many believe to be the ‘fixed’ or ‘expected’ one right now.
But our personal identity is so very important that it should never be fixed or expected.
It’s the key to our self, the key to what makes us who we really are, the key to finding our superpowers and our joy.
When are we going to stop trying to justify deciding and defining even a small part of what that personal identity is, or should be, for others?
When are we going to live in a world where “being who you are” relies on nothing but our own free-flowing inner knowing and genuine and true-for-ourselves choices?
When are we going to encourage souls, both new and old, to be everything they know they can be, without pre-definition or limitation?
Let the pressure end and the freedom begin.
You are your greatest You when you are authentically and fully being who YOU know yourself to be.
Nobody knows who you are except YOU.
You’re far too unique to live according to anyone else’s rules or beliefs.
You know. You always will know.
Be who you are.
